I am amazed at the fact that we can look at our inmate population in our prisons which was
174,000 in 1972 and 1,400,000 in 2010
and feel good because the population in Michigan went down by .03% in 2010. We have 15% of the population of Michigan incarcerated in U.S. prisons. Let's look at the factors contributing to this mega distortion, 758% increase in overall population in a 38 year period, and take some positive action to solve this growing problem!!!! .03% just is not cutting it given that we have a 45-50% recidivism rate in Michigan. Is it our education system, drugs, gangs, our justice system? What ever it is, it has to be corrected.... See the following article
